Advancing Technology
Advancing sustainability is the core purpose of Conwood. From our origins designing building solutions that conserve forests, Conwood is evolving to respond to growing environmental challenges. Today, we’re dedicated to refining our production processes to create low-waste, low-emission and safe building solutions that minimize environmental impact, both now and for generations to come. We’re constantly innovating to improve, but here you can learn what we’re doing now.
Conwood was created to reduce deforestation by offering a wood alternative for construction. But with cement responsible for 8% of global emissions, we’re rethinking how we use it by shifting from portland to hydraulic cement and increasing recycled fiber pulp in our products. We’re also piloting palm oil byproducts and collaborating with government research bodies to develop new, greener raw materials.
Conwood reuses 100% of its process water, heat, and dust to cut energy use and conserve resources. Recycled dust reduces new calcium carbonate use by 13%, while treated wastewater is fully reused. Leftover cutting material is sent to INSEE Ecocycle for cement production, ensuring zero waste from cutting operations.
Conwood is shifting to clean energy with 1.25MW of solar panels—enough to power 1,000+ homes—and by replacing diesel forklifts with electric ones, cutting over 48,000 liters of fuel a year while improving air quality for staff.
For over a decade, Conwood has held the Singapore Green Label, recognizing products with strict environmental standards. In 2024, we earned the Gold Green Label in Indonesia for reducing emissions, waste, and improving sustainability practices. In Thailand, Conwood remains the only fiber board with Green Label Certification, underscoring our leadership in sustainable building materials across the region.
